What We’re Asking You To Do

So in the face of this enormous problem, what can you, as an individual, do?  Here is what we ask of you.

  1. Sign the pledge.  Become a part of a global community that will speak out.
  2. Know the facts for yourself, and be able to judge the accuracy of any given claim, because you’ve taken the trouble to know the background story.  Refer to this blog and other excellent ones that are out there.  CCA is committed to this mission for the long haul.  We will be here, to help you understand the issues, and to keep the conversation going, for as long as it takes.
  3. Support – financially when you can, with your volunteerism when possible, and with your voice always – the work being done by many excellent organizations.  These are a few of our personal favorites (though there are many others we’ll be introducing you to elsewhere on this site, and in the years ahead via our blog):

Ric O’Barry’s Dolphin Project

Founder/Director Ric O’Barry has been at this since 1970, when he made it his life’s mission to protect dolphins worldwide from exploitation and slaughter.  He and his team have effectively changed the landscape over that time, and we would not have seen anywhere near the progress we have without the work of his organzation. Help ensure that he is provided with the resources he needs to get the job done.

Sarah Lucas of Australia-based Action for Dolphins has built an excellent team of knowledgeable and dedicated people.   Like Ric’s, and most of the other quality organizations out there, AFD is entirely funded by individual donations.  Let’s make sure she has the resources she needs.

Whale and Dolphin Conservation is a UK-based group doing tremendous work which is impressive in its scope,  scale and global impact.

Then there is the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society founded by Paul Watson, if you want to support a group which is always willing to take an activist and principled stand to defend all things related to the health of our oceans, and the well being of all the creatures that live in them

As we’ve stated, there are many other good ones, and links to many of them will appear throughout this site.
